What are cookies?

A cookie is a simple text file which is saved to a user’s computer or mobile device from the server of a website. It may be read or recovered by that same website server. It contains some information which allows the website to remember, for example, user preferences or products in his/her shopping cart. The Directive on Electronic Communications and the Provisions issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority on 8 May 2014, n. 229, on the “Identification of simplifying procedures for informing on and obtaining consent for the use of cookies” establish that the use of cookies is allowed only with the user’s consent (http://www.garanteprivacy.it/web/guest/home/docweb/-/docweb-display/export/3118884).

Why do we use cookies?

We’re always looking for ways to improve our website and to make it easier for our customers to get to know our products while bettering their experience on our site. To do so, it’s important for us to understand how you use our site. Cookies record the types of browsers used and they save user preferences, such as language and country. Lastly, cookies allow you to rank web pages. A few of the cookies that we use are session cookies, which disappear when you close the browser, while others are persistent (or stored) cookies which are saved on your computer for a longer amount of time.

a) PERSISTENT COOKIES

Persistent cookies (or stored or permanent cookies) remain saved to the user’s computer even after closing the web browser. They’re used to archive information, such as user names and passwords, so that the user doesn’t have to re-enter them every time s/he visits a specific site. Permanent cookies can remain in the user’s computer for days, months or even years.
We use persistent cookies to:
Avoid showing the cookie notification banner to users who have already seen it and accepted the use of cookies by clicking “Accept” or by continuing to browse the page.

b) THIRD PARTY COOKIES

Third party cookies are connected to services provided by third parties, such as “like” and “share” buttons and they monitor the effectiveness of such an advertisement. The third party supplies these services in exchange for information relating to the user’s visit to the site. They may use the information related to the user’s visit to:
display the advertisement to the user on other websites;
provide the advertising company with information on your visit so that they can then show you advertisements which you may be interested in;
monitor the number of users and their behaviour on the site;
monitor the type of reference used by the visitor to reach the site, be it directly, by a link, by a search engine, or an advertising campaign such as an advert or a link found in an email;
distinguish different users.
Third party cookie providers are also required to respect all applicable laws. For that reason, please refer to the links of the website belonging to the third party, in which the user can find the forms used to give consent to cookies and any disclosures related to them. If said services are provided by indirect contact with the third party, the user must link to the websites of those who act as intermediaries between us and the third parties. We use third party cookies to: redirect the user to visit our Facebook and Google+ pages and to view Google maps.

OGPC google.com 55 days Persistent cookies. Saves the user’s preferences and data each time that s/he visits web pages containing maps provided by Google Maps.
LSID google.com 2 years Cookies related to Google services.

b.1) ANALYTICS COOKIES

Analytics cookies are combined with the technical cookies when used directly by the webmaster, to collect information, in an aggregated form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself. Such anonymous cookies gather information on how the website is used and allow the website’s owner to better get to know the users and to improve the website’s functionality (for example: the pages visited, the errors users might come across, how many users are using the services so as to provide the necessary capacity for quick navigation). These cookies are managed for us by a third party (Google Analytics), but we do not allow the third party to use the cookies for purposes other than that listed above. To manage your consent for their use, please refer to the third party’s cookie section. The user’s consent is not required to install these cookies.
We use analytics cookies to: Provide statistics on how our website is used and to help us improve the site, recording any errors which may arise.
